Day 1: Arusha → Tarangire National Park
2 Days Tanzania Camping Safari Game Drive

This morning, journey to Tarangire National Park, known for its enormous elephant herds, majestic baobab trees, and incredible birdlife.

Tarangire often surprises guests with its diversity—expect giraffes, lions, zebras, and even rare species like the fringe-eared Oryx. Children will love the variety and your guide will tailor the experience to your family’s interests and energy levels.

Morning:

  • Pickup from Arusha (around 7:30 AM) by your friendly safari guide in a private 4x4 Land Cruiser with a pop-up roof for easy wildlife viewing.
  • Enjoy a scenic 2–2.5-hour drive southwest through Maasai country and small villages until you reach Tarangire National Park.

Mid-Morning to Afternoon:

  • Enter the park and start your first game drive. The golden grasslands, wide rivers, and iconic baobab trees make a dramatic landscape.
  • Keep your eyes peeled for elephants (Tarangire has the largest population in northern Tanzania), as well as giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, ostriches, and lions.
  • Stop for a picnic lunch at a designated site—watch out for cheeky monkeys while you eat!

Late Afternoon:

  • Continue your game drive in the cooler hours when animals are more active.
  • With luck, you might spot lions lounging in the shade, or even leopards perched in trees.

Evening:

  • Exit the park and drive up to the Ngorongoro Highlands, a lush, cool area with farms, coffee plantations, and misty views.
  • Check in to your cozy lodge or tented camp, unwind with a hot shower, and enjoy a hearty dinner.

Day 2: Ngorongoro Crater → Arusha
2 Days Tanzania Camping Safari Airport

Often called Africa’s Eden, this massive volcanic caldera is home to an incredible density of wildlife, including all of the Big Five. The setting is dramatic, the game viewing is world-class, and the entire experience feels like stepping into another world.

Early Morning:

  • Wake up early (around 6:00 AM), have a quick breakfast, and descend into the Ngorongoro Crater—an ancient volcanic basin that's now home to one of the densest wildlife populations in Africa.

Morning to Early Afternoon:

  • Spend up to 6 hours on a crater floor game drive.
  • Your guide will help you search for:
    • Lions (the crater has one of the highest lion densities in Africa) Black rhinos, one of the few places left to spot them in the wild Elephants, often with giant tusks Hippos, wallowing in the crater lakes Flamingos, buffalo, hyenas, jackals, zebras, and so much more Stop at a scenic picnic site, often near a hippo pool, for lunch in the wild.

Mid-Afternoon:

  • Begin your ascent out of the crater, taking in the sweeping views one last time.
  • Head back to Arusha (approx. 3.5–4-hour drive), arriving in the early evening.

Drop-off: At your hotel, lodge, or airport (JRO/ARK) depending on your travel plans.
